A reported domestic incident at a Fond du Lac apartment complex over the weekend fortunately wasn’t as serious as police initially feared. At about 1:30am Saturday police received a report of a domestic incident and possible gunshot in an apartment at the Courtyard Apartments on Berger Parkway. Fond du Lac police and Sheriff SWAT teams responded to the scene. A woman and her daughter eventually exited the apartment unit unharmed. Police later learned a male subject had earlier left the apartment and the sound that a neighbor thought was a gunshot may have been a door slamming shut. Nobody was injured and no arrests were made. Law enforcement officers were on the scene for about five hours.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
