For the second year in a row Waupun is listed among the safest communities in Wisconsin. Waupun is the ninth safest city in Wisconsin according to the National Council for Home Safety and Security Study. Waupun police chief Scott Louden says the study uses the most recent FBI Uniform Crime Report statistics, focusing on violent and non-violent crimes. “We take a lot of pride in that. I think we have a great school district, great leaders in our mayor, city administrator and I think we do a pretty good job at the police department as well,” Louden told WFDL news. Louden says the study shows that Waupun residents generally feel good about themselves and their community. The study ranks Cedarburg as the safest city in Wisconsin, followed by Oregon, New Berlin, Waunakee and Mequon.
