1-7-19 fdl police officer injured in crash involving squad car

A Fond du Lac police officer was transported to the hospital  following a traffic crash involving a squad car Monday morning.    It happened near the intersection of Johnson and Main Streets.   The accident was described as minor and the officer was transported to the hospital after complaining about neck pain.

A new Fond du Lac County Sheriff is being sworn into office today.  Ryan Waldschmidt ran unopposed in November after defeating an opponent in an August primary election.  He replaces Mick Fink who is retiring after more than 37 years in law enforcement.  Last month Waldschmidt named Kevin Galske to be his chief deputy.  Fink was first elected Sheriff in 2006.   Waldschmidt has been  with the department since 1998, moving […]

The Fond du Lac School District will be placing two referendum questions, totaling $98.5 million, on the April 2, 2019 ballot. MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A jump in electronic cigarette use by Wisconsin teenagers has prompted the state Department of Health Services to issue a health advisory. The state health officer says e-cigarette use among Wisconsin high school students increased 154 percent between 2014 and 2018. In 2014, 8 percent of high school students used e-cigarettes. Fond du Lac County District Attorney Eric Toney has announced that Assistant District Attorney Douglas Edelstein has been appointed Deputy District Attorney for Fond du Lac County.   The appointment will take effect Monday January 7.   The Deputy position has been vacant since May 5 when then Deputy District Attorney Dennis Krueger died unexpectedly.    District Attorney Eric Toney says Edelstein has been with the Fond du Lac County DAs Office […]

1-5-19 snowmobile fatality

NECEDAH, Wis. (AP) — Authorities say a snowmobiler has died in a crash in Juneau County.  Officials say the 41-year-old Necedah man was driving through a field when he hit an irrigation ditch and was thrown from the snowmobile. The crash happened in the Town of Armenia near Necedah Thursday about 7:30 p.m. The victim has not been identified.
