MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Liberals are optimistic about taking over majority control of Wisconsin’s Supreme Court, with a critical election two months away that will serve as both a barometer of the state’s political mood heading into the 2020 presidential contest and set the stage for a pivotal court race next year. If the liberal candidate wins the April 2 Supreme Court race, conservatives would have to win the 2020 election that’s on the same day as Wisconsin’s presidential primary when Democratic turnout is high.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
