A former Ripon High School teacher has been placed on probation for having a sexual relationship with a student. Fond du lac judge Gary Sharpe placed 29 year old Samantha Fitzpatrick on three years probation. Fitzpatrick earlier pleaded guilty to one count of sexual assault of a student by a school staff member. Three other counts, including child enticement, were dismissed. According to the criminal complaint, Fitzpatrick sent sexually explicit text messages and a photo of herself to the 17 year old victim and had sex with the student on multiple occasions.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
