Fond du Lac police are investigating after a Facebook video showing what appears to be the mistreatment of a dog at a Fond du Lac pet grooming business. Fond du lac Assistant police chief Steve Klein says police did receive information Tuesday regarding alleged mistreatment of animals at Tails a Waggin and were made aware of the video that has been appearing on Facebook. Klein says a Detective was assigned to look into the case. He says the investigation is active and no further information is being released at this time. The Humane Society posted a message on it’s Facebook page that it was aware of the incident and that police were investigating. Animal Shelter Manager Renee Webb says it’s a sad incident regardless of all of the circumstances. Webb says its also a reminder that in this day and age of social media you have to extra careful of your actions. “People do get angry, people do get frustrated, but the moment you act on that frustration, the moment you act on that anger, your career is over especially when you’re working with those that have no voice,” Webb told WFDL news. “You need to do your job and if you get angry or frustrated you need to walk away.” Meanwhile Webb says there is no special licensing required for pet grooming or boarding. She says its important for you as the pet owner to ask questions that can shed light on whether a groomer is qualified. Webb says groomers can be certified in first aid for pets or be members of a pet groomer association. And Webb says don’t be afraid to ask if you can stay and watch your pet being groomed and above all trust your instincts.
