The Fond du Lac County Sheriff is reminding motorists to slow down when they see the flashing lights of emergency vehicles on the sides of the road. Sheriff Ryan Waldschmidt says deputy Logan Will was injured when his squad car was struck Sunday while he was assisting a motorist stuck in the ditch on Interstate 41 south of Fond du Lac. “He is sore and banged up and bruised up as is the driver of the vehicle that struck the squad,” Waldschmidt told WFDL news. “In the back seat of the squad there was one of the drivers that had spun out that was off the Interstate. He wasn’t transported by ambulance but did seek medical treatment.” Waldschmidt says deputies responded to 50 separate crashes over the weekend.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
