The Fond du lac fire chief is reminding residents to be extra careful when walking on icy sidewalks and pavement. Fire chief Pete O’Leary says in the last few days paramedics have responded to calls of people getting injured falling on the icy pavement. “We have. The number one call we go on medical call-wise are slips and falls,” O’Leary told WFDL news. “…we had a couple of broken ankles the last week from falls on black ice.”

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
