The Fond du Lac School District hopes to be able to make up snow days without having to extend the school year. Superintendent Dr. Jim Sebert says two scheduled in-service days, March 22 and May 3 will now be regular school days. “We have enough minutes within the calendar as of right now, but more so than the minutes we just haven’t been able to have good flow of teaching and learning in this second semester,” Sebert told WFDL news. “Our second make-up day that was part of the calendar extends the school year to a half day on June 6. We were supposed to finish with a half day on June 5.” Sebert says the District still has some flexibility on June 6 and 7 if there are more weather cancellations.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
