2-11-19 man charged in fatal shooting of milwaukee police officer

MILWAUKEE (AP) — Prosecutors have charged a 26-year-old man in the fatal shooting of a Milwaukee police officer. Jordan P. Fricke, of Milwaukee, was charged Sunday with first-degree intentional homicide and other crimes in the fatal shooting Wednesday of 35-year-old Officer Matthew Rittner, who was serving a search warrant. Police say Fricke was the target of the warrant and was wanted for the illegal sale of firearms and drugs.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — University of Wisconsin System regents have approved raising graduate tuition at eight schools and out-of-state undergraduate tuition at six schools.  Resident graduate tuition will increase at Eau Claire, Green Bay, La Crosse, Oshkosh, Parkside, Stevens Point, Stout and Whitewater. The fourth annual Sturgeon Spectacular is underway in Fond du Lac this weekend.   Fond du lac Area Convention and Visitors Bureau director Craig Molitor says there are events in downtown Fond du lac, Lakeside Park and the World Ice and Snow Sailing Championships on  Lake Winnebago.   Molitor says another highlight of the weekend  is  a  snow sculpting  competition in downtown Fond du Lac.  A new event this year is curling.    […]

2-9-19 life prison sentence for fdl man convicted of child sex assault

A Fond du Lac man convicted of sexually assaulting young boys will spend the rest of his life in prison.  Fond du Lac judge Robert Wirtz sentenced James Rasmussen to 203 years in prison and more than 60 years of extended supervision.  Last November a Fond du Lac jury found Rasmussen guilty of  more than 40 counts of child sex assault.   At sentencing, Judge Wirtz stated Rasmussen’s behavior was "monstrous, […]

2-9-19 calf barn fire

Six heifers died in a fire that destroyed a barn in Fond du Lac County.  Shortly before 1:30pm Friday firefighters were called to the  Harold Steger farm at N3340 Highway 175 south of Fond du Lac for a report of a calf barn on fire.  The cause of the fire remains under investigation.  The barn is a total loss.

2-9-19 investigation shows fdl man died from cocaine overdose
