MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Recent findings suggest that the bitter cold temperatures that gripped Wisconsin this week could also have a chilling effect on an invasive insect species that threatens the state's ash trees.  U.S. Forest Service research biologist Rob Venette co-authored a study that found temperatures around 20 degrees below zero can reduce emerald ash borer populations by half. 2-4-19 winter weather-milwaukee deaths

MILWAUKEE (AP) — Milwaukee authorities are investigating what appear to be two weather-related deaths.   Both of the victims were discovered on Friday. A 63-year-old woman was found about 6:45 a.m. in a scorched trailer where police believed she was using her gas stove for heat. 2-4-19 guardians, teen charged in death of seven year old wisconsin boy

MANITOWOC, Wis. (AP) — Two adults and a teen have been arrested in last year's death of a 7-year-old Wisconsin boy who was allegedly beaten, forced to carry around a heavy log and was buried in the snow.  The Manitowoc County Sheriff's Office says 7-year-old Ethan Hauschultz, of Newton, died on April 18. 2-4-19 festival foods in fdl evacuated following refrigeration malfunction

(photo: fdl fire and rescue)  A malfunctioning refrigeration unit forced the evacuation of  Festival Foods grocery store in Fond du lac Saturday afternoon.   Shortly after 12:30pm firefighters were called to a report of smoke in the refrigeration room at Festival.  Firefighters were able to isolate the unit which was leaking oil.   After about 90 minutes the store had been cleared of smoke.  The Fond du Lac Public Health inspector was […]
