3-5-19 fdl county vehicular homicide trial postponed after judge recuses himself

todayMarch 5, 2019

A vehicular homicide trial for a North Fond du Lac man will be rescheduled after a Fond du Lac judge recused himself.  Travis Wollersheim was scheduled to go on trial this week on two counts of homicide by negligent operation of a vehicle.    The trial was postponed after Fond du Lac judge Gary Sharpe announced he was recusing himself because of a conflict of interest.  The judge said he realized that he had represented Wollersheim’s father in a previous case and also served with Wollersheim’s mother on the United Way board.  The District Court administrator will assign a new judge to the case.  Wollersheim  is accused of rear-ending a car that had slowed on Interstate 41 in a construction zone in Fond du lac in June 2016, killing two passengers in the car.
