Utility work will inconvenience motorists on Fond du Lac’s southside this week. Starting Monday Highway VV will be closed to traffic for utility work and a detour route will direct traffic to use Martin Avenue and FDL Avenue. On March 25 the City of FDL anticipates closing CTH V between CTH VV and FDL Avenue to through traffic to replace the existing water lines. No signed detour is planned for this closure. Mail delivery, garbage and recycling collection services should continue as usual during all of this utility work. Generally, access to driveways within the closure will be maintained but there may be a few short duration driveway closures which will be coordinated with homeowners beforehand.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
