The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office is warning people to stay of Lake Winnebago during this week’s warm-up and wet weather. Sheriff’s captain Bill Tadych says the rain this week, coupled with temperatures well above normal will only further deteriorate ice conditions on the lake. “With the runoff its going to make traveling on the lake treacherous,” Tadych told WFDL news. “A lot of the local fishing clubs have already pulled the bridges in anticipation of this warm weather.”

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
