Dozens of volunteers gave up their Sunday to help Fond du lac residents clean up in the aftermath of last week’s devastating flood. The volunteers gathered at a Volunteer Reception Center set up at the Pilgrim United Church of Christ on Stow Street to get their assignments, pick up their clean-up kits, and assist residents who had dialed 2-1-1 for assistance. The volunteer effort, is coordinated by Emergency Management, Public Health and United Way. United Way executive director Amber Kilawee says its wonderful to see the outpouring of support from the community. “We couldn’t be more grateful to the volunteers,” Kilawee told WFDL news. Call United Way at 920-979-7313 with any questions. Fond du Lac County Emergency management director Bobbie Hicken says residents are encouraged to dial 2-1-1 to report flood damage. Hicken says the information will also be used to assess the amount of damage done. She says while residents should not count on funding, everyone is asked to keep record of expenses, take a lot of pictures of damages in the event of reimbursements. The Reception Center is open Monday from 1pm to 4pm.
