Some Fond du lac residents were evacuated Monday afternoon after natural gas was detected in the storm sewer system. Fond du Lac Fire Chief Pete O’Leary says the high natural gas readings were detected in a neighborhood near 13th Street and South Park Avenue. South Park between 15th and Boyd Street was blocked to traffic and Alliant Energy was called to the scene. Power was shut off to about 100 homes. Alliant Energy was able to locate the source of the leak and is in the process of making repairs.
