The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office has made an arrest in connection with a swatting hoax phone call last year. The Sheriff’s Office says investigators were able to identify a 17 year old male juvenile from Youngstown , Ohio, as the suspect. On March 22 last year the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office received a call from a male subject who stated he had shot someone and had taken hostages at a residence between Beaver Dam and Columbus. When deputies arrived on the scene they were able to quickly determine the call was a hoax. Investigators believe the suspect is responsible for making similar calls across the country.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
