The Fond du Lac County Conservationist says last week’s flooding resulted in widespread run-off from farm fields and standing water throughout the county. Paul Tollard tells WFDL news he received a lot of calls last week from residents concerned about runoff from farm fields. “Kind of of reminiscent of a lot of the flood issues that came up in 2008. People called with concerns about flood water encroaching their houses,” Tollard told WFDL news. “Trying to be proactive by letting people know about the runoff and testing their water if they have any concern about how that runoff may affect their drinking water.” In the city of Fond du lac the majority of flooding problems were caused by ice jams on the Fond du Lac River. Tollard says throughout the county it was rapidly melting snowmelt caused by unusually warm weather and a relatively brief heavy downpour.
