After two years of ongoing discussion and negotiations between the city and school district there will be no change in how the Fond du Lac School Resource officers are funded. At a meeting this week the School Resource Officer Advisory committee has agreed to continue a 50/50 sharing of the costs for five school resource officers for 12 months…paid equally by the city and school district. The school district had expressed concerns that the city should pick up a greater share of the cost because the school year is only nine months. The committee agreed that a sub-committee would identify more summer opportunities for the officers.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
