A convicted child sex offender has been convicted of sexually assaulting a Fond du Lac woman. Following a trial this week a Fond du Lac Jury found Richard Forsyth II guilty of second and fourth degree sexual assault and not guilty of false imprisonment. A pre-sentence investigation was ordered. Police say Forsyth sexually assaulted a woman at a Second Street residence in the city of Fond du lac in December. Forsyth was convicted of sexually assaulting teenage girls in 1995 and 2002. He was released from prison in 2011 and was on active supervision for failure to report to the sex offender registry.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
