3-26-19 city of fdl bulky waste drop off site resumes normal hours

The City of Fond du Lac Department of Public Works says the Bulky Waste Drop-Off Site at 490 N Doty Street remains to open to residents with flood related items; however has resumed normal operation hours. The Bulky Waste Site will be open the week of 03/25/19 Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 3:15 pm.

3-25-19 macy street closed after bricks fall from building

A portion of Macy Street near downtown Fond du Lac is closed after some bricks fell off a building.  Fire captain Joe Maramonte says firefighters were called to the scene Sunday after  about a dozen bricks fell off the Macy Mini Mall building on Macy Street south of Model Cleaners.  Maramonte says the city’s building inspector found some structural damage inside the building.  There were no injuries or damage to […]

ARCADIA, Wis. (AP) — Gov. Tony Evers is getting a firsthand look at spring flooding in western Wisconsin.  The governor plans to tour impacted areas in Trempealeau County on Monday. 3-25-19 beaver dam man arrested in shooting death of woman

A Beaver Dam man is in custody in connection with the shooting death of a woman over the weekend.  Police responded to a shooting incident Saturday in Beaver Dam.  The victim was identified as Stacia Hollinshead of Sycamore, Illinois.  The Illinois state attorney says the victim was an assistant state attorney.  Police say a suspect, identified as Ulisses Medina Espinosa from Beaver Dam was arrested inside the home after the […]

ESCONDIDO, Calif. (AP) — A Southern California company is voluntarily recalling whole avocados over possible listeria contamination.  Henry Avocado, a grower and distributor based near San Diego, said Saturday that the recall covers conventional and organic avocados grown and packed in California. The Fond du Lac Family YMCA  has announced  that JJ Raflik has been officially named as Executive Director/CEO, effective Saturday, March 30, 2019.   Selected by the Fond du Lac Family YMCA Board of Directors, Raflik, who was serving as acting Executive Director/CEO, will succeed Greg Giles, who recently resigned from his position as Executive Director/CEO, to accept the position of Chief Advancement Officer for the YMCA of Greater Houston.

3-25-19 preliminary flood damage totals

The state Department of Military Affairs estimates spring flooding has cost local governments nearly $2 million and damaged hundreds of homes so far.   In Fond du Lac County, emergency management director Bobbie Hicken,  tells WFDL news preliminary damage reports include $320,000 in public costs including roads, water control and debris removal.  Hicken says 330 residents in the city of Fond du Lac were displaced by the flood.  DMA issued a […]
