For a brief moment last week the case of a missing Illinois child brought hope to families of other missing children across the country, including the cold case disappearance of Bobbie Jo Fritz in Fond du Lac County. Fritz vanished while playing outside his home in Campbellsport in 1983. Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Lieutenant of Detectives Cameron McGee says the case of the person claiming to be a missing boy found in Kentucky last week gave hope to people who believe that Fritz may still be alive. But the FBI said DNA results proved the person found wandering in a Kentucky neighborhood was not Timmothy Pitzen, who disappeared nearly eight years ago. Meanwhile, more than three decades later McGee says the Fritz investigation remains active. “As of even a couple weeks ago we were talking about that case again. We were looking through and reviewing reports to see if there was anything missed,” McGee told WFDL news. “Its still an active case and we’re still investigating it.”
