GRAND CHUTE, Wis. (AP) — A stretch of highway near Appleton was shut down for four hours after semi-truck carrying 41,000 pounds of meat caught fire. No one was injured in the fire Monday at about 6 a.m. It happened on the northbound lanes of Interstate 41. Grand Chute fire crews used two engines to extinguish the flames. The cause of the fire remains under investigation and a dollar estimate for the damage is unavailable.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
