Work begins Monday on a highway safety project to reconstruct a dangerous Dodge County intersection. The intersection at State Highway 33 and County Highway P will be closed and detoured during construction. The project is slated for completion in early July. The project will replace the existing intersection with a roundabout to reduce the frequency of severe crashes at the location. The $1.5 million project is being funded through the Highway Safety Improvement Program.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
