Envision Greater Fond du Lac is asking Fond du lac residents to help select a mural that will be placed in the Portland Street parking ramp in downtown Fond du lac. Envision’s Sarah Spang says the mural contest, sponsored by Leadership Fond du lac, invited local students to showcase their artistic talents and what inclusion in Fond du Lac means to them. Spang says earlier this month the field of entries was narrowed to two finalists. The Leadership Team is asking the community to go to the project’s website to vote for the mural they would like to see on display in the parking ramp https://sites.google.com/view/fdlportlandrampmural. The two murals were designed by high school students from Horace Mann High School in North Fond du Lac and Fond du Lac High School. Voting is open through Wednesday. The winning artist will be invited to the unveiling event in mid-May.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
