4-30-19 wolf, dog poisonings

todayApril 30, 2019

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is offering a reward regarding the poisonings of wildlife and pet dogs in northern Wisconsin.  Dogs have died in Bayfield, Marinette and Florence County.   Pet dogs, coyotes, weasels, raccoons and at least one wolf have been found dead.   DNR warden Andrew Lundin tells WFDL news investigators believe the person or persons responsible was specifically targeting predatory animals, possibly wolves.  Lundin says poison was found on the ground in rural areas.   The pet dogs ate it and died in less than 30 minutes.  Lundin says it could be that the person responsible is upset over the federal protection for the gray wolf.   The DNR, the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service and U.S. Forest Service are asking for the public’s help in this case.
