4-19-19 mptc foundation receives donation

The Moraine Park Foundation has received a $50,000 donation from their long-time partner Follett, to benefit students.   Follett is a national partner for schools, districts and college campuses, providing education technology, services, and print and digital content.  The donation was made to an unrestricted fund, used to to support students with tuition and personal emergencies that limit their ability to continue attending classes.

4-19-19 fdl man placed on probation for brandishing gun outside fdl high school

A Fond du Lac teenager  arrested for making threats with a  gun outside Fond du Lac High School last year has been placed on probation.   Fond du Lac County Circuit judge Gary Sharpe placed 19 year old Julius Freeman Jr.  on probation for 42 months  on charges of second degree recklessly endangering safety.    A six month jail sentence was imposed and stayed. 4-19-19 fdl high school musicians in california

 Nearly 100 Fond du Lac High School musicians are in sunny California this Easter holiday weekend.  The high school band students are performing in San Diego.  Band director Matt McVeigh says as part of the performance tour the students are working with musicians from the 1st Division US Marine Band, performing a concert at Balboa Park and participating in Disney’s Performance Arts on Stage workshop.

4-19-19 madison lawmaker reintroduces bill to legalize marijuana

A Madison lawmaker is reintroducing legislation to legalize recreational marijuana.   Democratic state representative Melissa Sergeant  was joined by fellow Democratic state legislators and pro-marijuana supporters in making the announcement Thursday.  Sargent says the majority of Wisconsin residents support fully legalizing marijuana.

4-19-19 wi unemployment rate holds steady

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin’s unemployment rate remains at 2.9 percent for the second month in a row.  The state Department of Workforce Development reported Thursday that Wisconsin’s unemployment rate was 2.9 percent in March. That is near the record-low of 2.8 percent reached in April last year.  Prior to last year, Wisconsin’s unemployment rate never dropped below 3 percent.  The state lost 4,500 private sector jobs between February and […]

4-18-19 u.s. census figures

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — New U.S. Census Bureau figures show Dane County led the state in population growth in 2018. The county added 5,584 people, accounting for a quarter of the state's growth last year. Fond du Lac County saw an increase of 1,439 residents.  Dodge County’s population  declined by 912 residents.  Overall, Wisconsin gained about 21,500 residents to remain the 20th most populous state.

MILWAUKEE (AP) — Sen. Cory Booker will be the fifth Democratic presidential contender to campaign in Wisconsin. His campaign website says the New Jersey senator will hold a discussion on preventing gun violence in Milwaukee Tuesday. President Donald Trump holds a rally in Green Bay on Saturday.
