4-4-19 tight ripon school board race

There may be a recount  in the race for Ripon school board.  Nate Zimdars was the top vote getter in Tuesday’s election with 1,463 votes, followed by Margaret Hefferman with 1,260 votes.  But  just one vote separated the other two candidates for the third and final seat on the board.  Incumbent Gary  Rodman received 1,061 votes and former board member Dan Zimmerman received 1.060 votes.

Careless use of smoking materials is to blame for a small fire on the porch of a home in Fond du lac.   Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire  at 49 5th Street Wednesday afternoon in the corner of the porch.  No injuries were reported.

MADISON, Wis. MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Republican members of the Legislature's budget-writing committee are taking apart Democratic Gov. Tony Evers' proposal to expand Medicaid coverage.  Evers' state budget calls for accepting federal Medicaid expansion, a move that would add about 82,000 low-income people to Medicaid rolls.
