A drug suspect is in custody following a short chase in Fond du Lac County. Shortly before 5pm Tuesday Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s deputies, working in conjunction with Lake Winnebago MEG Drug Unit officers and the State Patrol, attempted to stop a vehicle on I-41 near Lost Arrow Road. The driver failed to stop and exited southbound on Highway 151. Another deputy spotted the vehicle on South Hickory Street near Larsen Drive. The suspect turned into the Muthig Industries parking lot and fled into the building. The building was evacuated and the suspect was found hiding in a bathroom.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
