A new Fond du Lac animal shelter is expected to open this month. Fond du Lac Humane Society Board president Joe Leventhal tells WFDL news the kennels are being delivered today. Leventhal says one of the big improvements will be a new air exchange system. Leventhal says the new shelter is approximately double the size of the current building. He says there will be much needed room for an increasing number of dogs and cats and to isolate animals that are sick.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
