U.S. Senator Ron Johnson says he doesn’t believe president Donald Trump was trying to use Russian operatives to dig up dirt on Hilary Clinton to help is presidential campaign. “I don’t believe he was trying to work with them,” Johnson told AM 1170s Between the Lines program. “He made sarcastic comments when these emails were being revealed.” Johnson made the comments this week as attorney general William Barr testified before the senate judiciary committee on the Mueller report. Johnson says contrary to what Democrats on the committee have said he doesn’t believe Barr lied or was misleading in his portrayal of the report. “Its four pages versus 440 some pages of mind-numbing detail and complexity, trust me I read that thing,” Johnson said. “I appreciated the executive summary from the special counsel. I appreciated the four page summary from William Barr, which I think was largely reflective and accurate of what the conclusion was.” Johnson reiterated the Republican line and Trump’s statements that the report found there was no collusion between the Trump administration and Russia.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
