The Fond du Lac city council will continue discussion about the design of a new Fond du Lac Lakeside Park pavilion at a meeting this week. The council is meeting as a committee of the whole after several councilmembers expressed concerns that a concept plan for a new pavilion was too utilitarian in its appearance and was not attractive enough to draw people to Fond du Lac. City council president Brian Kolstad says the question the council will have to answer is should the park or the pavilion be the attraction? Kolstad says the council will meet to decide whether to allow the city to move ahead with the plans as proposed or to start over with a new design. Fond du Lac Public Works director Jordan Skiff says the architect who designed the plan has extensive experience in this area and was following the guidelines provided by the city. Construction on the $3.5 million dollar structure is scheduled to start next year and completed in time for Walleye Weekend 2021.
