A Suamico man escaped serious injury when he was forced to make an emergency plane landing in Fond du Lac County Monday afternoon. The Sheriff’s Office says it happened near the area of Triangle Road and CTH M in the Township of Rosendale. The pilot was able to get out of airplane on his own with minor injuries. There were no other occupants of the airplane. The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office says 70 year old Gary Dornfeld of Suamico was flying from Pulaski to Juneau when he encountered what he described as turbulent air and attempted to make an emergency landing in a farm field. The plane landed upside down with significant damage. Dornfeld was transported by ambulance to Ripon Medical Center Hospital for evaluation and treatment of minor injuries. The airplane crash remains under investigation.
