Groundbreaking ceremonies were held Wednesday afternoon for the long awaited Highway 23 expansion project. Elected officials and community leaders gathered at the historic Wade House in Greenbush for the ceremony. Starting this month construction will begin on the 19 mile stretch to widen Highway 23 to four lanes between Plymouth and Fond du lac. The first segment will go from Sheboygan County Highway P to the Fond du lac-Sheboygan County line.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
