The Fond du Lac County Dairy and Livestock extension agent says a proposed Dairy Innovation Hub would be a good thing for Wisconsin’s dairy farmers. Extension agent Tina Coleman says the new initiative will focus on land and water stewardship, animal and human health, and nutrition and growing farm businesses. “This dairy innovation hub is something that is desperately needed here in this state to help support our dairy and our ag community,” Coleman told WFDL news. “I’m pleased to see this.” The bill would spend nearly $8 million annually to create dairy research programs at three UW system schools.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
