The Fond du Lac city council has still not made up its mind on what direction to go with a new pavilion at Lakeside Park. The council met as a committee of the whole this week after a couple members earlier expressed concern that a concept plan for the new pavilion was too utilitarian for their tastes. Council president Brian Kolstad says one option is to scrap the plan for a new pavilion, remodel the existing facility and spend the extra money on other park improvements. “The main question is our we getting what we want out of it for the price we are going to be paying,” Kolstad told WFDL news. The cost of the new pavilion is estimated at $3.5 million. Kolstad says the council will discuss the matter further at a second workshop session on May 22.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
