Fond du Lac Saint Mary’s Springs Ledgers head football coach Bob Hyland has been named Coach of the Year at the Wisconsin High School Sports Awards show in Appleton. Hyland led the Ledgers to an undefeated 14-0 season and D5 state championship for the second straight year with a 20-17 vicgtory over Stratford in the title game at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison. Under Hyland the program has won a record eight WIAA state championships and 24 overall after previously competing in the Wisconsin Independent Schools Athletic Association. Fond du Lac High School’s Andrew Stone was named the Boys Track and Field Athlete of the Year. Stone is ranked the number one high school shot put thrower in the country.
