Construction gets underway Monday on the long-awaited Highway 23 expansion project between Plymouth and Fond du Lac. State senator Dan Feyen of Fond du Lac says its great news for motorists’ safety and the economy. “Here we are, starting a three year process of getting this road completely four lanes between here (Fond du Lac) and Sheboygan,” Feyen told WFDL news. The project was put on hold four years ago when an environmental group filed a lawsuit. Feyen says he was relieved when the appeal window came and went. “They had their 150 days to appeal. When that period started I started a countdown on my phone and when that came, it was about two months ago, we knew we were in the clear.” The first leg of the project will involve reconstructing 23 from Sheboygan County Highway P to the Fond du Lac County line.
