todayMay 29, 2019

The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office is warning motorists to keep their eyes on the side of the road for deer.  The number of  car-deer crashes tend to spike in the fall, during the rut and again this time of year.  Fond du Lac County Sheriff Ryan Waldschmidt says while most car-deer collisions result in only property damage, they can also result in injury or  even death.  “We take hundreds, probably thousands of car-deer crashes every year.  When you look at Wisconsin as a whole we’re always in the top five in the nation for car-deer crashes,”  Waldschmidt told WFDL news.  According to the state Department of Transportation during the past five years, the  number of deer crashes in Wisconsin has remained fairly steady between 18,300 and 20,400.
