6-4-19 arndt street bridge

todayJune 3, 2019

The Fond du Lac Public Works director says a new Arndt Street bridge will be built to last more than 70 years.   Work is underway to replace the existing bridge.  Public Works director Jordan Skiff says construction started Friday and is expected to be completed this fall.  “This plan has been in the works for many years.  Your listeners who drive that area a lot know that the bridge deck surface has been poor for many years,”  Skiff told WFDL news.  “This will be a stronger structure.  This will account for that kind of traffic it’s been getting.  Those unusual stop signs at each end of the bridge to keep the pounding from causing damage won’t be needed anymore.  It will have room for bikes on either side and a sidewalk.”
