A local group is forming to work on sustainability issues in Fond du Lac. Fond du Lac city councilmember Donna Richards says the public is invited to the group’s first meeting at 3pm Wednesday at the Fond du Lac Public Library. “Each one of us has activities we can do and some of us need to learn more about so that we can gather together to do a better job of using less energy and sustaining our environment,” Richards told WFDL news. Richards says the goal is to develop a long term sustainability plan for the Fond du Lac area. Richards says some ideas includes things as simple as a rain garden, farm to table food and also alternative energy and autonomous vehicles.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
