Fond du Lac’s  Holiday Automotive is celebrating it’s 60th anniversary this month.  What began in 1959 as Holiday Olds—an Oldsmobile dealership operating from a modest brick building on north Main Street in Fond du Lac—has evolved into one of the Wisconsin’s most respected auto retailers.   Holiday represents Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, Cadillac, Ford and Mazda, has four used vehicle lots, three service centers, two quick lube centers and two body shops. Although the dealership has grown to attract car shoppers from across the state, the neighborly treatment of shoppers has stayed consistent.   “Lessons dating back to the days of our humble beginnings are very much part of our DNA and core values today,” says Holiday CEO, Mike Shannon. Shannon was hired in 1972 by Bill Gores, the owner at the time, and began working as a salesman for Holiday.    Holiday’s role as a community member and neighbor has also evolved over 60 years.   “We are grateful that our business is here, in what I believe is one of the best places on earth to live and raise a family,” remarks Shannon.   Holiday also actively participates in area events such as the Hospice Hope Charity Open, the County Fair and the area’s premier family festival – Walleye Weekend. “Fond du Lac is our home town. We feel fortunate to have had the opportunity to serve this community for 60 years and we strive to contribute to keeping it a great place to live and work,” said Shannon.  Today, family owned Holiday Automotive employs 330 people and operates from a large campus on Fond du Lac’s west side.
