A Republican lawmaker from Fond du Lac says a local road funding plan is in response to concerns lawmakers have heard from constituents about the condition of local roads. A group of Republican senators last week unveiled a plan to use $133 million in budget reserves to pay for repairs to county and town roads. Senator Dan Feyen says Fond du Lac County and local townships would receive one time funds to help pay for road repair. “We keep hearing in the district that we need more money for roads,” Feyen told WFDL news. “…that we need our roads fixed, we need better roads. This is a way for us to inject a little one-time money.”

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
