A former Mayville police officer charged with child enticement has made his initial court appearance. Mark Forster is free on a $5000 signature bond after appearing in Dodge County Circuit Court. He also faces charges of misconduct in office and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. According to a criminal complaint Forster had a relationship with a 17 year old girl, including sexual contact with the girl when he was on duty. The charges carry a maximum sentence of 49 years in prison and a $150,000 fine. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for August 8.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
