A 61 year old Fond du lac man is in custody following an incident at Lakeside Park. Shortly after 2:30am Wednesday police received a report that a 61 year old Fond du Lac man was suicidal and armed. The man was observed walking in the area of the Lakeside Park harbor and then getting into a vehicle. Police attempted a high risk traffic stop however the man refused their orders to stop, and he proceeded to drive his truck over two different curbs to maneuver around the officers’ vehicles. He then drove at a slow speed toward his residence a few blocks away. Officers followed in a “slow speed pursuit” continuing their efforts to get the man to stop. After the subject arrived at his residence he exited his vehicle and attempted to get into his home. However, Officers physically detained him and took him into custody. The man did fight with the arresting officers and continued to act violently even after being detained and placed in the rear seat of a squad car. A handgun was located in the man’s vehicle. He was arrested for a number of criminal acts and is being held in the Fond du Lac County Jail.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
