MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Public schools could release the names of students' parents and guardians under a bill approved by the state Assembly.  The measure passed Tuesday on a voice vote. It now heads to the Senate.  Schools must inform parents of what is considered directory data and provide them an opportunity to opt-out. MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The Wisconsin Assembly has passed a bill that expands a loan forgiveness program designed to attract more minority teachers to the classroom.  The bipartisan bill approved Tuesday on a voice vote would make the program eligible to teachers in high demand fields in any school district where at least 40% of the population is non-white. 6-18-19 fdl man arrested on attempted homicide charges

A Fond du Lac man has been arrested accused of trying to kill a man by beating him in the head with a wooden club.   Police chief Bill Lamb says the incident happened last month at a residence in the 100 block of East Merrill Avenue.  Lamb says police have forwarded charges of attempted first degree intentional  homicide to the District Attorneys  Office against the 44 year old man.

MILWAUKEE (AP) — Two off-duty police officers have been killed in separate incidents in southeastern Wisconsin.   Racine police say Officer John Hetland was fatally shot Monday about 9:40 p.m. when he tried to intervene in an armed robbery at Teezers bar. Firefighters are back on the scene of a fire that destroyed a North Fond du lac home.  Firefighters were called back  to the scene this morning at 1207 Wisconsin Avenue for a report of smoke.  Firefighters were called  Monday night to find the home fully involved in fire.  Two pet dogs were lost in the fire.  The four occupants were not home at the time of the fire.  The cause […]
