(AP) — Wisconsin Republicans are heralding a state Supreme Court ruling affirming a lame-duck legislative session used to pass laws limiting powers of the Democratic governor and attorney general. A new AAA survey  finds that many drivers underestimate the dangers of marijuana impairment.   The new survey by the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety shows that driving high is seen as less dangerous than driving drunk, distracted or drowsy.  The survey found that 13 percent of Americans viewed drivig within an hour after using marijuana as only slightly dangerous or not dangerous at all, far more than other risky behaviors like alcohol impaired driving […]

6-21-19 wi settles more juvenile prison lawsuits

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin has agreed to pay nearly $5 million to three former inmates at Wisconsin's juvenile prison complex, raising the state's legal bills for problems there to more than $25 million.  The settlements announced Thursday include nearly $4 million for two young Iowa women who alleged abuse at the Copper Lake facility, where they were sent after Iowa closed its school for troubled girls.  The settlements wrap up some […]

6-21-19 wi unemployment rate remains at record low

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin's unemployment rate remains at a record low.  The state Department of Workforce Development reported Thursday that Wisconsin's unemployment rate for May was 2.8%, the same as in April. That matched the record low of 2.8% reached in April 2018.  The state gained 1,800 private sector jobs between April and May. 6-21-19 state assembly approves drunken driving bills

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The state Assembly has approved two bills that would stiffen drunken driving penalties.  The first measure would require anyone arrested for a first offense to appear in court. 6-21-19 fdl police investigating shots fired at parked vehicles

Fond du Lac police are asking for the public’s help after several vehicles were found this week with their windows shot out.  Police say three vehicles parked on West Johnson Street had windows damaged from gunshots. No injuries were reported.  Anyone with information is asked to call police.

6-21-19 new oakfield high school principal

The Oakfield School District has a new principal for the Middle/High School.   The school board has hired Tim Brown for the post.  Brown comes to Oakfield from the Kohler School District where he held the same position for the past four years.
