The Fond du Lac city council is discussing the possibility of moving Halloween trick or treating from Sunday to Saturday afternoons. City council president Brian Kolstad says KFIZ radio requested the change because of potential conflicts with Green Bay Packer football games. “I haven’t heard a lot of feedback on this one way or another,” Kolstad told WFDL news. “I’ve heard a few people say it’s good where it is, and a few people say they would appreciate Sunday afternoon available for other events.” Trick or treating has been held on Sunday afternoons for more than 30 years. Kolstad says there is also a possibility of moving trick or treating back to Halloween. Trick or treating was moved to the daylight hours in Fond du Lac following the murder of Lisa French on Halloween in 1973.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
