A 41 year old Fond du Lac man was injured when fireworks exploded in his face. Fire Chief Pete O’Leary says the incident happened Monday night at Lakeside Park near Doty Street and Frazier Drive. “Our paramedics got there and treated the male who was complaining of burns and lacerations to his face. He had some singed and charring on his clothing,” O’Leary told WFDL news. The man was transported to the hospital for treatment. A short time earlier police responded to a report that the man was shooting off illegal fireworks at his residence on Ledgeview Avenue. According to the police log when officers told him they were illegal to shoot off in the city limits, he stated he was going to the park to set them off.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
