The Fond du Lac County Public Health Officer says a confirmed case of the mumps at a local daycare shows the vaccine isn’t perfect, but it does help prevent it’s spread. Public Health Officer Kim Mueller says a two year old who attends Jesus Little Lambs Childcare did get a first dose of the mumps vaccine but still contracted the disease. “It’s a good reminder that a vaccine isn’t perfect, it doesn’t work 100 percent, but that’s why it’s so important for us to minimize that spread by getting our vaccines. Hopefully with this one dose the child is less likely to spread it from person to person,” Mueller told WFDL news. Mueller says a letter sent to parents said a child attending the daycare can not return to the childcare center until he/she has received one dose of MMR vaccine or the incubation period time has passed.
